I grew up around tools.

As a kid, I had access to a professional workshop full of tools—saws, grinders, drills—and little supervision. I’m fortunate to have retained my sight and fingers through those formative years. As I grew older, I would accompany my father on projects and learn how to build. I began to familiarize myself with the different periods of housing in the area, how they were built, and where they failed. By high school, I was working part-time as one of his crew. This continued through college where I studied biology and chemistry. After college, I worked full time with my dad for several years before starting my own business. This coincided with the start of my own family in the mid-1980s. Something else was happening during this time—an emerging rejuvenation of quality and craftsmanship. I am fortunate to be among the builders responsible for this era in the home building industry.
